Exclusive BB 88 plate sells for Dh14 million in Dubai
Over 90 premium number plates offered across multiple categories
DUBAI – The 119th open auction for exclusive vehicle number plates, organised by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), achieved total revenues of Dh97.95 million on Saturday.
The highlight of the evening was the super plate (BB 88), which fetched Dh14 million. Other high-value sales included plate (Y 31) at Dh6.27 million, (M 78) at Dh6 million, and (BB 777), which also sold for Dh6 million.
Dubai number plate auction
The auction, held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai Hotel, featured 90 premium plates with two to five digits across codes AA, BB, K, L, M, N, P, Q, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z. Super plates (BB 88) and (BB 777) drew particular attention, underlining the continued demand for symbolic and distinctive numbers.

Interested bidders are required to hold a traffic file in Dubai, submit a Dh25,000 security cheque payable to RTA, and pay a non-refundable entry fee of Dh120. Payments can also be made by credit card via the RTA website. A 5% VAT applies to the sale of all plates.
Registration was available online and at RTA’s Customer Happiness Centres in Umm Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha.
